Norman was a young assembly engineer who worked on Spitfires at High Post where the final assemblies were done along with development of the Spitfire. Here he shows us in a modern day factory how important the wing structure of the Spitfire is which was one of the secrets of its success. It was a complex fighter with many new techniques in its design and a complicated structure to put together. It’s a testament to the achievements of the girls, boys and men who built them in their thousands in secret factories.
